Getting there

Getting there from Quito

By car: Approximately 1 hour and 45 Minutes south of Quito. From Quito head south along the Pan-American highway (E35) until Machachi. Then from there we are about another 25 kms on the way to El Pedregal, which is the northeast entrance of Cotopaxi National Park.

By Bus: If you do not have your own transportation, we recommend you take a bus that goes to Ambato or to the south of the country and stop in Machachi. From Machachi you can get a pick up truck going in the direction of El Pedregal until you reach the northeast entrance of Cotopaxi National Park where we are located. The ride in truck is approximately 25 kms.

My friend and me took a 3hour ride with Omar. We had a really good impression of the horses and the route and the nature were AMAZING! However, we have a few critic points:1) The Guide Omar couldn’t speak English well. Furthermore he was on his phone a lot did not give us any information about the nature.2) The horses didn’t receive a treat after the ride. We would love to give them an apple for example. However, we really appreciate that the horses were sent back to the posture after the ride and they seemed very happy and content.3) The biggest critic point is the ride to your place. As discussed we have booked an Uber to reach your place. We weren’t informed by you or your Homepage that we can’t reach your place with a usual car. The information about a bigger car with bigger wheels MUST be on your website. Our Uber driver broke his wheels on the track and we took more than 30 Min longer than your homepage said. We’ve called Omar from the Uber and asked about the street conditions and he didn’t mention anything about it. We strictly recommend that you put this information on your website. Thanks for the amazing experience!

I go horse riding everytime I travel and this was the best ride. Enrique was very responsive and followed up on all my emails. They picked me up my hotel in Machachi. The ride was $30 there and back. The ride itself starts at the entrance to the national park with Cotopaxi volcano getting you. If you are an experienced rider like me you would really have a blast since the guides let you roam free even if the group is not interested in galloping. The park is amazing with lots of flat areas to run in. Wild horses and llamas are on the route. Bottom line, a must do while in the area and best value for horse riders
